As we approach the 2026 Midterm elections, the future of the Commonwealth and beyond is poised for change.

The U.S. House of Representatives and Senate primaries in Virginia are scheduled for August 4, 2026. All 12 of Virginia's congressional seats between the U.S. House and Senate are up for reelection. Voters will elect 11 candidates to serve in the U.S. House from each of Virginia's 11 congressional districts and one candidate to the U.S. Senate. These high-stakes races will have significant implications for the future direction of national policy and may serve as a bellwether for the 2028 presidential election.

Leading up to Election Day on November 3th, the Institute for Democratic Empowerment and Pluralism will provide essential voting information and impartial insights into the 2026 federal elections. Our goal is to empower the VCU community and the broader public with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about Virginia’s future.
